Rebecca Mailloux
Women's Head Coach / Camp Director
Rebecca Mailloux is entering her fifteenth season as head coach of the women’s golf team at Grand Valley State. Mailloux joined the Laker program after a four-year stint as head coach at Saint Leo in Florida. A 2001 graduate of South Florida, Mailloux spent four years on the LPGA Futures Tour. A native of West Warwick, R.I., Mailloux. She was the Rhode Island women’s amateur champion from 1996-2000, finished second in the Massachusetts Open in 2001, returning in 2003 to win the championship. She was voted the 2002 Rhode Island female athlete of the year.
Katie Chipman
Assistant Women's Golf Coach
First year assistant coach, Katie Chipman, is a 5-year letter winner and 4-time All-American while playing at GV. During her career she had the highest DII National ranking of any player to come through the program and at one point was ranked 2nd in the country for her scoring average. She tallied up 13 collegiate wins, 4 GLIAC Golfer of the Years honors, 4-time All-Region honors and owns the top-6 low 18-hole rounds in program history. Since graduation she has been in the golf industry in various positions, including club sales, country club pro-shop attendant and golf event management.
Gareth Lappin
Men's Head Coach
Gareth Lappin was announced as the new men's head golf coach in October, 2023.
Originally from Ireland, where he was a junior Irish National Champion, Lappin played collegiately at Michigan State from 2014-18, where he was a letterwinner and was named a BIG TEN player to watch. Following his playing career in East Lansing, Lappin became a graduate assistant coach for the Spartans, where he was responsible for setting practice plans, tailoring players golf swings, and aiding in the recruitment of players.
For the past five years, Lappin has been a golf pro both in Ireland and in Michigan. He was a teaching pro at Belvoir Park Golf Club in Belfast and at the StoneWater Country Club in Grand Rapids. He gave private lessons to multiple Division I golfers, among other players, ran junior development camps, guided junior golfers through the recruitment process, and conducted clinics and golf education sessions for golfers.
Steve Milewski
Assistant Men's Golf Coach
Steve Milewski is set for his second season as an assistant coach for the Grand Valley State men’s golf team.
In November 2017, Steve acquired the Head Golf Professional position at The Meadows at Grand Valley State University. A Class “A” member of the Professional Golfers Association of America, he has worked and offered instruction at high end facilities throughout the country. These clubs include Edgewood Valley Country Club in LaGrange, Illinois, Sara Bay Country Club in Sarasota, Florida and most recently as the First Assistant for five seasons at Egypt Valley Country Club in Ada, Michigan.
Milewski played four seasons of Division I college golf at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. During his collegiate career, he recorded two top 10 finishes, a 3rd place finish at the Bradley University Fall Classic, and a 10th place finish at the D. A. Weibring Intercollegiate. During his time at ISU, he played for then assistant coach and now head coach Ray Kralis, a three time Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year. He graduated in 2001 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and Finance.
Prior to Illinois State, Milewski played four years of Varsity golf at St. Laurence High School in Burbank, Illinois under head coach Tom Gorman . During that time he won a state regional, was named Chicago Catholic League MVP, and finished 8th at the IHSA State finals as a sophomore. In 2014, he was inducted into the St. Laurence High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
